Civic Lens USA is a social impact organization focused on helping young people understand the connection between who they are and how they engage with the world around them.
We believe young people deserve space to reflect on their own experiences first — before the world asks them to lead. The way a young person understands themselves shapes how they move through their community, form opinions, and participate in civic life.
We partner with schools, libraries, community-based organizations, and youth-focused programs to bring identity-centered civic education directly to the young people who need it most.
See What We Do
We design workshops, programs, and tools that invite people to explore identity, perspective, and the connection between lived experience and civic life.
A facilitated workshop where participants reflect on their experiences and contribute to designing programs they'd actually want. Centering honesty, lived experience, and collaboration.
A multi-week experience where participants deepen self-understanding and begin shaping reflections into ideas, projects, or forms of expression connected to their communities.
A week-long national experience where communities host conversations, storytelling sessions, and creative activities centered on identity, perspective, and civic life.
Civics doesn't start with policy. It starts with people.
This summer, Civic Lens is bringing 15 young people to the Society for Ethical Culture to explore identity, community, culture, and civics.
Too often, young people are asked to speak, lead, and engage — without ever being given the space to understand who they are first. Without space to reflect. Without space free from judgment.
"Sponsor a young person and give them the opportunity to find their voice before the world asks them to use it."
It costs $1,000 to fully sponsor one participant. Our goal is to sponsor all 15.
Whether you donate, partner with us, or simply share our work — every action helps more communities engage with civic life through self-awareness.
Fund a participant's experience at Civic Lens Week this summer. Starting at $250.
