Civic Lens USA is a social impact organization focused on helping people understand the connection between who they are and how they engage with the world around them. Our work begins with the individual — not the institution.
A team of women of color — leading our work through that lens, always.
Faith Vieira is the founder of Civic Lens USA, a social impact organization exploring the connection between identity, culture, community, and civic life. She holds a Master's degree in Public Administration and has spent her career working at the intersection of youth engagement, policy, and civic participation.
Prior to founding Civic Lens, Faith worked with organizations such as YVote and Vote16USA, where she led partnerships, communications, and youth-centered programming. Her work now focuses on helping young people better understand themselves as a starting point for how they engage with the world — through workshops, media, and storytelling.
Rather than starting with systems or institutions, Faith starts with the individual. This approach allows civic engagement to feel more personal, more relevant, and more grounded in everyday life.
We create spaces where people can reflect on their own experiences first — and then begin to see how those experiences connect to something larger.
Young people are often asked to engage civically without ever being given space to understand who they are first. At Civic Lens, we create that space — where young people can reflect on their own experiences and begin to see how those experiences connect to something larger.
Our approach starts with identity and lived experience — especially for young people whose voices and perspectives are too often left out of civic conversations. This makes civic engagement feel personal, relevant, and grounded in real life.
There are many spaces that ask young people to speak up, lead, and engage. There are far fewer that give them room to pause first — to understand where their perspectives come from. Civic Lens creates that space.
We partner with schools, libraries, and youth-serving organizations to bring this work directly to young people. Every program and partnership contributes to creating more intentional, reflective pathways for the next generation into civic life.
"By centering self-awareness, we support young people in developing a clearer sense of who they are and how they want to engage with the world — before the world asks them to lead."
Every young person walks in with a perspective shaped by their life. We honor that. The most important knowledge in the room is what they bring with them — not what's handed down to them.
Understanding where your perspective comes from is the first step toward knowing how you want to engage. We create room for young people to slow down, think, and arrive at something real — not just reactive.
The work only works when young people are in it genuinely. We build spaces where honesty is welcomed, where participants shape what they're part of, and where every voice — especially the youngest ones — is taken seriously.
