Civic Lens USA is expanding the definition of civic engagement. Civics isn't something distant or institutional. It's something young people are already part of, every day. We create the space for them to see that, and to build the clarity and confidence to engage in ways that feel authentic to them.
Civic Lens USA is a social impact organization focused on expanding the definition of civic engagement. We help young people see civics not as something distant or institutional, but as something they are already a part of, in their conversations, their communities, and their everyday lives.
From there, they build the clarity and confidence to engage in their communities in ways that feel authentic to them. Civic engagement starts within. The way a young person understands themselves shapes how they move through the world around them.
We partner with schools, libraries, community-based organizations, and the adults who work with young people, bringing identity-centered civic education directly to the spaces where it's already needed.
See What We Do
We design workshops, programs, and tools that invite people to explore identity, perspective, and the connection between lived experience and civic life.

A facilitated workshop where participants reflect on their experiences and contribute to designing programs they'd actually want. Centering honesty, lived experience, and collaboration.

A multi-week experience where participants deepen self-understanding and begin shaping reflections into ideas, projects, or forms of expression connected to their communities.

A week-long national experience where communities host conversations, storytelling sessions, and creative activities centered on identity, perspective, and civic life.

A training for teachers and youth practitioners on how to hold space for the political conversations young people are already having, in group chats, on social media, and in their communities.
Civics doesn't start with policy. It starts with people.
Civic Lens Week brings communities together for a week of conversations, storytelling, and creative activities centered on identity, community, culture, and civics.
Too often, young people are asked to speak, lead, and engage, without ever being given the space to understand who they are first. Without space to reflect. Without space free from judgment.
"Give them the opportunity to find their voice before the world asks them to use it."
Whether you donate, partner with us, or simply share our work, every action helps more communities engage with civic life through self-awareness.
